Life is
just great right now. I’m running four-plus miles a day, biking four-plus, getting in the best shape of my life, improving my guitar technique, earning money, having tons of fun with friends, and legitimately making the most of this summer.

I'm a few
months practice away from being able to shred furiously. My picking and my fingers are almost free from the uncoordinated ties that hold them back. Then, I’ll be able to play anything. =)
Nine miles
today. Oh yes. Not quite on purpose either, but that’s okay. I swear, it felt like I ran twelve or thirteen miles by the time I finished.

So, as I was
driving to my Aunt’s house today, I checked my mirror. Some guy in a white Jetta was tailgating me. One stab at my brake pedal, and his bumper would’ve been my backrest. As usual, I let out my ring of swears, then changed lanes to let him pass. As he passed, he completely stared me down, and I flipped him off. Well, I had
a new guitar, but only for a day.
My psyche was completely destroyed today. I was crushed with the reality that our family is hard-pressed for money, now that I’m going off to college as well. It tore me apart inside. I’ve never felt so fucking unbelievably guilty for purchasing something at such a great price. I got a $430 guitar for $260 because of cosmetic damage. But I was made...

Today I was reminded
of how people can get such tunnel vision with their views and opinions, and no amount of debating will sway them.
It really is a skill—an art even—to be open to other opinions and ideas without being a tool.
