I did it!
1 mile in 4:58!
=D
And they all fall down.
Three of my personal records have fallen in track this year:
400m: 57.2 800m: 2:12 today. Holy shit I smashed my old record of 2:18. =D 1600m: 5:06
My goal by the end of this season: 56.5 in the 400m, and 4:59 in the 1600m.
I feel like such a boss right now. This has to be the best shape I’ve ever been in. =)
Playoff beard.
Me: This is my playoff beard.
Mom: *rubbing her face* This is mine.
Me: ...you can't grow a beard.
Mom: wanna bet?
It feels like
I’m getting sick.
Good god this is the WORST TIME FOR THAT. I can’t get sick. Not now. There’s only six seconds separating me from a five minute mile, and only four weeks left in the season to do it. On top of that, it feels like my knees could collapse at any moment. I’m somewhat scared that if I twist them the wrong way or stop too suddenly, I’ll wind up with a...

Shival: ...I AM a woman!

Mrs. DeWitt asked us today who our heroes were today. She pointed out how we idolize pop-culture stars, and don’t even know the name of the current general leading the war in Iraq. There’s such a disconnect between us and our nation’s leaders. Back in the mid 20th century, army generals, presidents, and government leaders were praised and looked up to.
If she asked me, I...

I was born with an enormous need for affection, and a terrible need to give it.

The sound
of a roaring engine is music to my ears.
I love racing, even if digital simulation is as close as I can get. Someday, somehow, I’m going to learn how to race, and visit a track often.
You have Dutch citizenship? …Were you born in Dutch?

Fakeout.
Coach Ben and company were trying to find girls to give Max's number to.
Ben: How about that girl over there, Max?
Max: I dunno, she could be a fifty-foot-fakeout.
Ben: ...Good from afar, but far from good.

A great way
to start spring break:
I ran a mile in 5:09 today, which wasn’t too impressive. But my leg of the 4x400 relay was 57.2, a whole 0.8 seconds faster than I’ve ever run it before. Man I was so pumped.
Now, I can finally get some sleep.
